Rimmel London Fresher Skin Breathable Natural Finish Foundation Review

Rimmel their new Fresher Skin Foundation is advertised as a light breathable coverage for a natural-looking finish that stays shine-free all day. It contains natural mineral powders that help absorb excess oil while the aloe, chamomile & sea algae extracts help reduce redness and evens out natural skin tone.

The first thing that I notice is the fresh smell of the foundation thanks to the aloe and chamomile extracts. It has a creamy consistency yet isn’t too runny. I've read that the formula of the foundation was developed in Japan and that it is the first time it has been used in the colour cosmetics industry. The foundation comes in 4 shades from Light Porcelain to Natural Beige, but unfortunately missing out on those with deeper skin tones.

As expected, the foundation doesn't offer full coverage. I did however like the fact that I was able to get a little more coverage with a second layer of product. Redness is definitely blurred out a bit, but concealer is pretty much a must for spots and blemishes. The foundation dried within seconds, leaving my skin feeling super soft. I was pleasantly surprised with the lightness of the product on the skin, and it is in no way heavy or cakey.

I think the obvious downside is the packaging. I really like how luxurious a glass jar feels, but I do not like the idea of dipping my fingers or brush into the product. The little pot can get messy, and let’s be honest, they’re never going to be as clean/bacteria-free as they need to be.

All in all I am pleasantly surprised with the foundation. If you’re looking for a light coverage foundation that’s going to leave skin looking healthy and very natural, then this is a good foundation to add to your makeup bag.

The Rimmel Fresher Skin SPF15 Foundation is sold for €13.49 and can be bought at various drugs stores and online.
